I can't believe the first month of 2011 is already gone. January has been a funny month and with two new children starting it has been a month for settling in.
Our special topics this month were winter weather and towards the end of the month we looked at 2D and 3D shapes. We made special peanut butter bird feeders to hang in the garden, the birds loved them and we had a great time watching all the birds from the patio windows. When we looked at shapes we made shape mosaics, mobiles and necklaces. We also played shape snap.
Our focus colours this month were white and blue and we did some lovely hand printing mixing different shades of blue. In our table tray this month we played with white shaving foam and Gloop. And we played with very blue (food colouring) water in the water table outside.
Our focus number this month was 1 and we started working through the alphabet using the Jolly Phonics learning scheme.
Towards the end of the month everyone got very excited to see the shots start to appear from the bulbs which we planted in the Autumn. We also took a trip to the garden centre to buy seeds ready to plant when spring arrives.
