Joanne Edwards -> July 2010 - Enjoying the Sunshine

The weather has been nice again this month so we made the most of the sunshine by spending lots of time in the garden and at the park enjoying lots of picnic style teas.

July was national ice cream month so we made the most of that too by making our own chocolate ice cream and having ice cream sundaes for pudding. With all the sunshine the fruit and vegetables in the garden have really grown, we are going to have so many pumpkins we won’t know what to do with them (maybe pumpkin ice cream). We had enough strawberries in our welly boots to all make fruit kebabs to take home. And by next month we are going to have lots of tomatoes too.

Our focus topics this month were under the sea and the sea side, we did lots of craft projects, making our own octopi and sea life masks. We were lucky enough to visit the sea life centre in Weston-Super-Mare and we went and saw the sand sculptures on the beach too. When the older children had broken up from school we went to Blue Anchor beach for the day, we took our fishing nets and the metal detector, unfortunately we didn't find any buried treasure but we did find some crabs.

Next month we have no school or pre-school routines to stick to so we are looking forward to some nice trips out.
