Joanne Edwards -> September 2010 - Back to school and amazingly NO ONE cried

It was back to school and back to manic mornings but it has all gone really well (fingers crossed), no one has cried either going to school or pre-school which is a real bonus because if the children cry it always makes me cry. Everyone has slipped back into the routine really easily although the babies have really missed having everyone at home and to start with the house seemed really quiet, that all changes at 3pm mind.

Our focus topics this month were Emergency 999, people who help us and when the leaves changed (and the weather) we moved onto Autumn. Our focus colours were red and black and the number 9. We made our own emergency telephones and talked abut Emergencies which lead very nicely onto people who help us.

We were lucky enough to visit the dentist who counted our teeth, we all got stickers for being so good and we visited the vet who told us how important it was to be kind to all animals. We have used the dressing up / role play clothes a lot this month and I have been a patient so many times because the children always want to be the doctor.

In the garden this month all our hard work came to fruition, everyone took home there sun flowers Tyler's was the tallest at over 10 feet. We have harvested so many tomatoes we have a freezer full of tomato pasta sauce. Our sweet corn is nearly ready for picking and as predicted we have enough dwarf pumpkins to feed an army.

Next month we are going to continue looking at Autumn, and when the clocks go back we are going to explore clocks and time. We also have half term to look forward to and Halloween.

Back to school and amazingly NO ONE cried !!!!!! (not even me)
